Casey Cowell serves as Principal Owner at Durandal Inc. He also serves as Advisor at Grand Ventures. Mr. Cowell co-founded U.S. Robotics in 1976 and served as its President from 1983 to January 1996. He served as Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Robotics Corp., from 1983 to June 1996. Mr. Cowell has been Vice Chairman of 3Com Corp. since June 1997. He has been Director of CDW Government Inc. since November 1999. He serves as a Director of Northwestern Memorial Corp. Mr. Cowell serves as Director of 3Com Corporation, Mastering Inc. and System Software Associates. He serves as a Director of Seurat Company, Illinois Coalition, May & Speh Inc. and JobsOnline.com Inc. Mr. Cowell also serves as Chairman at Durandal Inc. He served as a Director of CDW Corp. (formerly CDW Computer Centers Inc.) from November 1999 to October 2007. He served as a Director of Mastering Computers Inc. (formerly Eagle River Interactive Inc.) since September 1995. He served as a Director of U.S. Robotics Corp. since 1983. He served as Chairman of U.S. Robotics Corp., from 1983 to June 1996 Mr. Cowell has received numerous industry honors including being named one of the 25 Top Managers in the world by Business Week in 1995 and Executive of the Year in 1996 by Crain’s Chicago Business. Mr. Cowell holds Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 1975 from the University of Chicago.
Susie Janis is is the recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Service Award from the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. Janis is recognized for her nearly four decades of volunteer service. That service includes Northwestern Michigan College’s Foundation Board – where she oversaw a $6 million fundraising campaign to build the Dennos Museum Center and development of its membership program – the Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation Board and the Traverse Symphony Friends board. She was also among the first women to serve as a director for the Traverse City Area Chamber and was instrumental in the development of the Smith Family Breast Health Center.
Janis was also involved in several endeavors outside the Grand Traverse region, including the Michigan Community Economic Excellence Board, Michigan’s Bureau of History and the Michigan Humanities Council.
Today she’s involved with the National Writers Series, Grand Traverse Community Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Michigan and the Front Street Writers group among other organizations.
